Financial Analyst for R&D Finance EMEA Region - FMC

FMC’s European Headquarter and Innovation Center, with advanced laboratories, greenhouses, offices, and more than 150 employees from all over the world, is located at Scion DTU in Hørsholm. The Innovation Center in Hørsholm has a high focus on research and development in new biological agent, in recognition of a growing concern about the use of chemical agents, and is spending the majority of research funds on biologicals.

The Scion DTU research park provides a unique environment with forests around, while still being close to Copenhagen.

 

The Financial Analyst will provide independent support to the R&D Finance Director (FD) in the EMEA Region and will be an integral part of the FMC R&D Finance Team. FMC recently established their EMEA HQ I Hørsholm, and you will play an important role in establishing project controlling, including setting up relevant processes. You will create the overview over projects, and thereby provide a basis for optimal decisions, and reduce the risk of financial surprises late in projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a monthly financial forecast for FD through review of cost center/project spending and discussion with managers in EMEA
  • Design and issue a monthly financial reporting package for FD, including cost and headcount summary.
  • Prepare quarterly project reports to analyze internal and external costs.
  • Put together the annual cost center and project budgets for EMEA region
  • Assist with preparation and review of AFE’s.  Track capital spending and monitor that levels are within the capital plan.
  • Assist with the implementation and observation of the internal controls in the R&D department
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.  Work closely with Procurement to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Manage EMEA R&D fixed asset inventory through annual managerial review of asset lists.  Oversee the implementation of an asset tag system to improve fixed asset inventory tracking.
  • Monitor the consultant costs and service period to ensure compliance to FMC policy.
  • Work closely with Corporate Tax Department to ensure expenses are provided the appropriate accounting treatment with regard to intercompany transfer pricing; and to prepare required detail for the R&D tax credit as requested
  • Provide day to day financial support to R&D EMEA managers and staff.
  • Financial modeling for product innovation (PI) projects (NPV, ROI, etc.)
  • Special projects as assigned including projects initiated by FMC Ag Philadelphia

Qualifications:

It’s important, that you know how  R&D controlling functions, understand the processes and have experience in interacting with R&D Project Managers and scientists, preferably in an international setting.

  • Graduate degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • Demonstrated skills in financial management, analysis, accounting and reporting
  • Minimum of 5 years “relevant” experience in financial functions preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve business processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tenacity for bringing issues/projects to closure
  • Solid understanding of accounting and skilled in financial analysis 
  • Excellent computer skills particularly power point and excel and SAP
  • Financial Modeling
